Constitution of Student Council

Preamble

Student Council of Khalsa College of Education, G.T. Road, Amritsar is an integral part of the organization’s functioning. It participates well in all the activities of the organization. It legitimizes the unanimity of any decision, policy-making and implementation.

Purpose

The purpose of the student council is to act as an effective communication medium between the administration and the students although every student has a valid opportunity to interact with the administrative officials at any time.  The student council acts as an interactive organization facilitating the primary level of communication.  The Student Council also assists in the planning and development of various cultural, sports, social, recreational and other educational interests of the students in the institution. 

Role and Responsibilities of the Student Council

 The fundamental role of Student Council is to act as a facilitator in sharing information between administrative officials and the students, and to promote an environment conducive to educational and personal development to support the management, administrative officials and faculty in the development of the institution by means of sharing the opinion/suggestion/feedback of the council. Their role is to represent the views of the students on matters of general concern. However, in no case Student Council will organize any meeting without the prior intimation to the Principal. The functioning of the Student Council should be adhered to the objectives of the council. The council shall work with the administration in the planning and development of activities of the students. Council will work closely with the administrative officials, teachers and students. The Council will involve as many students as possible in the student development activities of the institution.

Constitution

The Institution Students’ Council shall consist of the following members, namely:

1. President
2. Vice President
3. Secretary
4. Sports Secretary
5. Cultural Secretary
6. Head of Class Representatives

Faculty Member

Two faculty members were selected as in charges of the Student Council. Out of these two, a faculty member is appointed as the Dean, Student Council who acts as an advisor to the student members in the Student Council.

Tenure and Procedure

The tenure of student members in the student council is one year, while faculty members are replaced due to resignation/dismissal in the best interest of the student council of the institution. All student office bearers are nominated posts.  This nomination is purely based on their leadership skills displayed during the session. The semester in-charge nominates class representatives in consultation with the course coordinator.  The Cultural Coordinator and Sports Coordinator of the institute nominate the Cultural Activities Representative and Sports Activities Representative respectively. All the enrolled students of the institution are eligible to be nominated.  The candidate shall not be subjected to any disciplinary action by the authorities of the institution.
